The CHO Clothes Closet gratefully accepts donations of clothing which are distributed free of charge to needy families in our community. There is a constant need for all types of seasonal clothing. Our current needs are:
- men’s shirts small
- men’s pants size 30 and 34
- men’s socks
- women’s tops XL
- women’s skirts L
- women’s pants L
- girl’s 0-3 months, 3-6 months, 3T, 4T, 5T
- boy’s 0-3 months, 12-18 months
- winter jackets in all sizes
- children’s shoes
- men’s and women’s athletic shoes
The Clothes Closet maintains regular service hours from the Monday after Labor Day until the Monday before Memorial Day. We are open from 9:30 am to noon on Mondays. The Clothes Closet is not open on federal holidays and when Fairfax County Public Schools are closed due to inclement weather.
We have a continuing need for in-season, quality, used clothing. Donations are accepted every Monday that we’re open; clothing is distributed to clients on each of those Mondays except the first Monday of the month. (Donations that are not needed by CHO clients are passed on to other charitable organizations.)
The furniture program is now focused on collecting, inspecting, cleaning, and tuning-up bikes in preparation for the CHO Christmas store. After that, we’ll give our volunteers some time off to enjoy the holidays. Accordingly, furniture pickups have been suspended until mid-January. Until then, please consider donating your furniture to Habitat for Humanity ReStore (www.restorenova.org).
The Furniture Program has an ongoing need for beds (all sizes except King), dressers and chests of drawers, sofas and love seats (but no sleep sofas or sectional sofas), dining table/chair sets, microwave ovens, rugs, lamps, baby cribs and mattresses. Pick-ups of donated furniture will resume February 14 and will continue each month on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month. To schedule a pick-up, call (202)-681-5279 .

Meals on Wheels
